We’ve crafted the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, giving you the chance to experience the very best of this fascinating country. Travelling light and exploring by car gives us the freedom to venture off the beaten track and discover places far beyond the usual tourist routes.

In the Footsteps of Gladiator: A Clay-Built Gem and Sunset over the Desert

We’ll stop for a traditional Moroccan mint tea and take in the breathtaking panoramic views. After lunch, we’ll arrive at the ancient mud-brick fortress of Aït Ben Haddou. This world-famous fortified village, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a masterpiece of traditional southern Moroccan architecture.

The site has an atmosphere unlike anywhere else, and it’s no wonder it has served as a spectacular filming location for iconic productions such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

We’ll explore its winding alleyways before climbing to the top of the ksar for stunning views across the surrounding landscape. Tonight, we’ll stay in a guesthouse overlooking this extraordinary historic site.

Zagora and the Gateway to the Sahara: Camel Trekking and a Night Among the Dunes

We’ll head south through the picturesque Drâa Valley, surrounded by seemingly endless palm groves, until we reach the Zagora region, aptly known as the “Gateway to the Sahara”. This historic crossroads of ancient caravan routes is famous for its vast date palm oases and the iconic sign pointing the way to Timbuktu, with its legendary inscription: “Timbuktu – 52 days”.

Here, lush greenery gradually gives way to the rugged desert landscape, offering the perfect introduction to the world of the Sahara’s sand dunes.

After lunch in a traditional local village, we’ll swap our vehicles for camels and embark on a leisurely trek to our desert camp, arriving in time to watch the sun set over the dunes.

As evening falls, we’ll enjoy a three-course dinner around the campfire, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Berber drums. Then we’ll settle into our tents and drift off to sleep beneath a spectacular canopy of stars.

Across the Atlas Mountain Passes to Morocco’s Highest Waterfalls

Enjoy a scenic drive through the mountain passes of the High Atlas, with regular stops for coffee and breathtaking views along the way. By early evening, you’ll arrive at the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfalls.

Plunging 110 metres into the depths below, these magnificent cascades are the highest and among the most impressive in Morocco. Set within a dramatic, lush canyon surrounded by ancient olive groves, the falls are also home to wild Barbary macaques, adding a touch of magic to this unforgettable landscape.

Marrakech: Traditional Souks and the Evening Buzz of Jemaa el-Fna

In Marrakech, you’ll lose yourself in a maze of traditional souks, where you can try your hand at bargaining for spices, ceramics and handcrafted souvenirs.

As evening falls, we’ll head to the iconic Jemaa el-Fna square, which comes alive with street food stalls, enticing aromas and musicians. Soak up the vibrant atmosphere as the square transforms into a lively hub of Moroccan culture and nightlife.

Laid-Back Essaouira: Ocean Breezes, Blue-and-White Streets and Fresh Seafood

You’ll visit the peaceful coastal town of Essaouira, where the atmosphere is a world away from Morocco’s inland cities. This historic port, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, charms visitors with its imposing stone ramparts, iconic blue-and-white streets and refreshing Atlantic breeze.

Known for its bohemian spirit, thriving art scene and rich fishing heritage, Essaouira is the perfect place to slow down and soak up the coastal atmosphere. You’ll wander through the picturesque medina, sample freshly caught seafood and spend the afternoon relaxing on the wide sandy beach, with the chance to cool off in the ocean.

In the evening, we’ll settle into our accommodation in Essaouira and enjoy views of the sun setting over the Atlantic.

As evening falls, we’ll enjoy a three-course dinner around the campfire, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Berber drums. Then it’s time to settle into our tents and drift off to sleep beneath a breathtaking canopy of stars.

Wednesday

We’ll wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we’ll ride our camels back to our vehicle.

If we’re in the mood for a little extra adrenaline and time allows, we can rent quad bikes and explore the dunes on an exhilarating ride (€40 per person for one hour).

Then we’ll set off on a scenic drive back through the mountain passes of the High Atlas, with regular stops for coffee along the way. By evening, we’ll arrive at the spectacular Ouzoud Waterfalls.

Thursday

We’ll spend the morning exploring the spectacular 110-metre-high Ouzoud Waterfalls, watching the wild Barbary macaques and stopping for a few refreshments along the way. We’ll hop on a small boat that takes us right beneath the cascading water for a refreshing up-close experience.

After lunch by the river, we’ll make our way back to Marrakech. In the late afternoon, we’ll wander through the colourful traditional souks, trying our hand at bargaining for souvenirs. We’ll round off the day back at the iconic Jemaa el-Fna square, soaking up its vibrant atmosphere once more.

In the evening, we’ll settle into our accommodation in Essaouira and enjoy a beautiful sunset over the ocean.

Saturday

In the morning, we’ll drive back from Essaouira to Marrakech, with time for some final sightseeing. Depending on our preferences, we can visit the beautiful Majorelle Garden, the magnificent Bahia Palace or a historic Quranic school.

If we have plenty of time before our flight, we can treat ourselves to some well-deserved relaxation at a traditional Moroccan hammam.

We’ll pick up our last souvenirs, stock up on aromatic spices and Moroccan tea, then head to the airport. Full of unforgettable memories and new experiences, we’ll board our flight home.
